Hello, We're the english cheesecake company
Our mission is to bring the finest cheesecake to the world one delivery at a time.
An obsession and infatuation
It wasn't long before our passion for creating became our business. We started it small, pleasing one customer at a time with our impossibly-tasty creations but it wasn't long before word spread about the 'new dessert-kid in town' and demand grew and grew. Our obsession and on-going infatuation has continued to this day and we still make the tastiest cakes at Cheesecake HQ, pleasing thousands of sweet-toothed customers year on year.
Our short & sweet story
Two dessert freaks and friends Philip & Alan joined forces over their love for all things cheesecake. They set out on a mission to create irresistible quality cheesecakes using a family recipe and a whole load of tasty toppings.
1988-90
WHERE IT ALL BEGAN
Philip & Alan met at a dinner party and bonded over their total love for cheesecake! They realised there was a gap in the market for a homemade style cheesecake, so they started making cheesecakes from home and experimenting with different flavour combinations.
1995-01
WE’RE ONTO SOMETHING!
Both Philip & Alan swapped their office jobs for the kitchen and turned their focus and attention to making their passion a fully-fledged business. The official incorporation of English Cheesecake Company and our first ever logo was created! The first actual bakery was created too, located in Notting Hill.
2002-06
BUILDING THE DREAM
Philip & Alan travelled the world to research the market and find inspiration. They were keen to make an ECC version of the classic New York baked cheesecake but with a UK cold set classic. The first concept being our Honeycomb Smash which is still one of our bestselling lines. We started developing cakes for menus for large restaurant groups (Pizza Express & ASK to name a few) and even created some incredible baked goodies, we just couldn’t help ourselves!
2007-10
OUR TEAM OF FOODIES
We brought on our first bakers, chef & warehouse team to help bring our vision to life. We started building out our customer base and created strong relationships with suppliers, consultants and third party agencies.
2012-15
GET TO KNOW ECC
These crucial years were all about getting our name out there and growing the brand – through trade shows and exhibitions. A proud moment was supplying cheesecakes for the 2012 London Olympics, playing into our English heritage and brand.
2016-18
MOVING ON UP
We grew from a small company into a sizeable manufacturing business and moved into a purpose built site, grew the team (again!) from 30-60 and set out with a strategy to conquer the retail space by tapping into the accessible luxury treat market. We launched into Waitrose & Booker.
2019-20
GETTING OUT THERE
We stepped up our social media game, pushed on with sales & marketing campaigns and we also invested in tech and machinery to help us on our way. As with many businesses, 2020 brought its challenges but we adapted through a challenging time and grabbed the opportunity to drive our web sales which soared during the pandemic. We started our re-brand process which took us on a real creative journey – We reverted back to our original wedge logo with a spruce up. Brought the image of the brand bang up to date with some bright & colourful graphics.
Retail became our biggest focus with lots of new listings in Co-Op, Sainsbury’s Ocado, we expanded our product range with new flavours, formats and vegan offering.
2021-24
We’ve hit the ground running with many exciting projects underway: Factory improvements with new units and a new workshop to help build our cheesecake empire at HQ. 150 strong bakery team with 24/7 production and 25 dedicated management team members. New website – but you already knew that!
Stay tuned for new partnerships, retail partners and a premium range all in the pipeline.
2024
A new look!
We wanted our cheescakes to look just as good on the outside, as they taste on the inside! So, in 2024 we've given our Cheesecakes a whole new look!
Ain’t no stopping us now – Onto the next Cheesecake chapter…
